Past President's Report
Anoinette Neff, MT-BC
The 2017 SWAMTA Regional Conference has come to an end and was said to have been one of the best conferences many have attended. Thank you to Diane Powell - Vice President, Mary Altom - Local Committee Chair, the Local Committee team, Jennifer Townsend - Continuing Education Chair, the Board of Directors, Houston Methodist Hospital, and to all of the professionals and students who volunteered to assist in so many ways. Without all of your efforts, conferences would not be possible.
I want to give a special thanks to Christine Neugebauer, President-Elect, for her role and leadership in presiding over the conference, ensuring that all ran smoothly, and preparing the mid year AMTA report on behalf of the SWAMTA. The 2018 SWAMTA Conference will be held in Lubbock, TX, where Christine will be your host! The Region is in good hands with Christine as our incoming President.
Thank you, Amy Rogers - Treasurer, for your tireless efforts to keep the SWAMTA solvent and for making sure that our IRS tax forms are submitted to the AMTA in a timely manner on behalf of the Region.
Congratulations are in order once again to the Oklahoma Music Therapists and its State Task Force. State licensure has become a reality with ChihChen Sophia Lee, PhD, MT-BC - Past President, obtaining license number one!
I’m honored to have had the opportunity to serve the SWAMTA over the past 25 years. It has been incredible to see the Region, along with the profession, grow and mature. The future of the SWAMTA is bright with the leadership of the next Board of Directors, AMTA Committee Representatives, professionals and students.
Past President, Southwestern Region of the American Music Therapy Association (SWAMTA)
